Bio-based Cleaning Effective in Green Cleaning Programs

Established by Congress as part of the
Farm Bill of 2002, the Federal government’s
BioPreferred program encourages
the use of bio-based products. The
program has since been expanded by Presidents
Bush and Obama via executive order.
According to both presidents, encouraging
the use of bio-based products is a
priority for the government because doing
so both diminishes our dependence on foreign
oil and helps the farming industry.*
