SCA Lead Sponsor of Cancer Charity
FLAGSTAFF, AZ — SCA, a hygiene and paper company, will again be the signature sponsor for the third annual Hairstock charity event in Flagstaff.

SCA is again donating $5,000 cash, Tork® napkins and dispensers and employee volunteers to help staff the one-day festival created to support those battling cancer. The financial donation will be presented to The Shadows, a non-profit charitable agency based in Flagstaff that is dedicated to providing financial assistance and services for people and families affected with a life-threatening disease.

“The Hairstock event is a positive way for the community to rally around our friends and neighbors coping with cancer,” said Don Jordan, regional director of Southwest Operations for SCA’s away-from-home professional hygiene business in North America. “At SCA, we care about the communities where we operate. We’re pleased to support this event that offers assistance to patients and their families facing the challenges of this disease and its treatment.”

Hairstock, which bills itself as a day of music, art and hair, is free and open to the public. The event raises money through donations and silent auctions to support Northern Arizona cancer patients and their families who need assistance for housing, transportation, medical and everyday needs during cancer treatments in Flagstaff. Festival-goers can also donate clippings of their hair for wigs that are made available to patients who suffer hair loss as a result of chemotherapy. Locks of Love makes the wigs for children, while Pantene Beautiful Lengths makes them for women.

Last year the event generated $15,000 and the donation of 75 ponytails to help cancer patients in northern Arizona. The event will be held Sunday, June 24, 2012, from 2–6 p.m., at The Orpheum Theater in Flagstaff.
